Lamont Stands Up for Connecticut Values -- Not the Trump Agenda

Statement

Date: Aug. 15, 2018

After successfully capturing the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in last night's election, and President Trump tweeted his support for Bob Stefanowski to the world, Ned Lamont today shared his bold vision to protect Connecticut values. He released the following statement:

"This election is about a simple choice, and the stakes have never been higher. This may be the most important election of my lifetime. I believe in Connecticut, and I believe in standing up for Connecticut values. I believe in closing the gender wage gap, delivering quality healthcare, and protecting women's reproductive rights. I believe with the right leadership we have a bright future. We need a governor who will be honest and who will tell the truth, because politicians have been lying to the people of Connecticut for a long time.

"My opponent believes in Donald Trump's worldview. There is no space between Donald Trump and Bob Stefanowski. They have the same backwards agenda, with the same bogus promises that have been made by politicians for 20 years. While I'm going to stand up against Trump's agenda in Connecticut, my opponent actively embraces it. This may be the most extreme GOP ticket ever.

"This year's election is pivotal. Connecticut needs to elect a leader who will fight to create equal opportunities for all residents, work to attract new businesses to the state and alleviate the financial burden felt by state residents. I have a bold, new vision to protect Connecticut values and make the hard decisions to finally get the state on solid financial footing. Connecticut voters have a clear choice this November."
