Vote to pass a bill that amends certain bison management laws and establishes a license for the hunting of bison and wild buffalo.
Highlights:
Authorizes an individual who is 12 years of age or older to purchase a license and hunt wild buffalo or bison between November 15 and April 30 (Sec. 9).
Establishes a license fee of $125 for Montana residents and a fee of $750 for nonresidents to hunt wild buffalo and bison (Sec. 9).
Prohibits the Department of Livestock from releasing or transplanting wild buffalo or bison onto the national bison range at Moiese, Montana, unless the animals originate from a herd in Yellowstone National Park (Sec. 3).
Requires the Department of Livestock to provide 50 wild buffalo licenses to individuals of designated tribes in the state (Sec. 10).
Requires the Montana Secretary of State to send a copy of this act to each tribal government located in the state (Sec. 11).
