Congressman Bradley Byrne (R-AL), who recently traveled to Cuba, issued the following statement in response to President Barack Obama's unilateral decision to restore diplomatic relations with Cuba and open a United States embassy in Havana.
Byrne said: "I have said repeatedly that I look forward to the day the United States and Cuba have fully restored diplomatic and economic relations. Unfortunately, President Obama's insistence on forging ahead alone, without Congressional input, is entirely the wrong approach. I call on President Obama to instead work with Congress and together we can begin to reform the relationship between our two countries."
