Senators Collins, King Announce More Than $400,000 in Funding for the Pleasant Point Reservation Housing Authority

Senators Susan Collins, Chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and Angus King announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded Pleasant Point Reservation Housing Authority $410,710 to support the protection of the waste water treatment plant at the Passamaquoddy Tribe Pleasant Point Reservation.

This funding will support the protection of the waste water treatment plant at the Passamaquoddy Tribe Pleasant Point Reservation from the impacts of recent storm surges, the rising sea level, and high winds on the unprotected section of Passamaquoddy Bay.

"Investments designed to strengthen and protect infrastructure are vital to Maine's future," the Senators said in a joint statement. "Infrastructure investments like this one play a critical role in economic development, improving public safety, and supporting our communities."

The waste water treatment plant is the tribe's only such facility, serving the entire Pleasant Point Reservation.
