Fincher Statement on Senate Amendment to Reform Ex-Im Bank

Press Release

Date: June 11, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Stephen Fincher (TN-08) released the following statement after the Senate voted last night on an amendment to reform the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The charter is set to expire on June 30th. A bipartisan majority voted 65-31 to back an amendment from Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill) to extend the Bank's charter until 2019.

"While I'm pleased to see progress being made in the Senate on this important issue, it's disheartening that the House Financial Services Committee has relinquished its authority to act on any substantial reforms," said Congressman Fincher. "It's unacceptable for the House to have waited this long to take action and risk handing American jobs over to China and Europe. When this legislation comes before the House for a vote, I will fight for the reforms we need to make the Bank more transparent and accountable, while also ensuring the security of the over 8,300 jobs in Tennessee and the over 205,000 jobs nationwide that are supported by the Bank."
