Marino Statement on Boston Terrorist Conviction

Statement

Date: April 8, 2015
Location: Hamlin, PA

Congressman Tom Marino (PA-10) issued the following statement regarding today's announcement that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been convicted of charges that he helped carry out the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings:

"This man is a terrorist and he should be treated as such. He should be executed and serve as an example of how we should deal with terrorists. The conviction is one step closer to what I hope will bring final closure for the victims of that tragic day. I believe in the legal process and have full confidence the jury will make the right decision during the final sentencing.

This conviction is an important step and it should serve to remind us twofold: radicalization from Islamic extremists is a serious and growing threat to our people; and that we must work together, more than ever before, to quell extremist recruitment efforts in cyberspace and on the ground. That means staying vigilant and toughening our defenses against those who wish to destroy us."
