Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day:

"Our families and communities benefit every day from the valiant efforts of our law enforcement officers. Today and always, these brave men and women deserve our deepest respect for their unwavering service.

"These courageous officers face down danger every day in order to protect us. We especially remember all those who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year, including Ingham County Sheriff's Deputy Grant Whitaker in December.

"On behalf of Michigan's Eighth District, we honor and thank our heroes in law enforcement for all that they do to keep us safe."
