Lujan Statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day

Statement

Date: April 16, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico's Third District released the following statement today in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day.

"More than 70 years ago, millions of Jews were persecuted, imprisoned, and millions more were murdered because of their faith, heritage, and identity. To this very day, the terrible atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis shock the conscience of humanity. Today we remember all those who lost their lives and the survivors, whose stories and perseverance help provide us with the strength to combat hatred and intolerance.

"On Holocaust Remembrance Day let us recommit to standing up against anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry. Let us not stand silent in the face of prejudice, and instead ensure we act out of respect for all people."
