Enzi reacts to USDA roadless ruling

Washington, D.C. - The USDA proposed an amendment to the roadless rule today that would identify how governors may seek relief for exceptional circumstances to the rule such as protecting public health and safety or reducing wildfire risks to communities.

Enzi's comments follow.

"We need to protect our forests, but we also need to protect the public's ability to access their land, especially in this time of severe drought. The ability to access forests before they burn will make them safer, and will provide jobs for our local communities. I will continue to work with the administration to make sure our forests remain safe and that the people of Wyoming who have been using existing roads in these areas continue to have that access."
