Statement

Date: Feb. 18, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a leading Senate fiscal conservative, today announced that he joined Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and the entire Republican caucus in the U.S. Senate in introducing the Balanced Budget Amendment (S.J.Res.6).

"Our nation is plagued with reckless spending and the best solution to ensure Washington gets this under control is if it is enforced by the Constitution. This constitutional amendment would require Washington to put real, permanent limits on the size of government and have serious discussions about our nation'sspending priorities. I have been a long proponent of Congress adopting a balanced budget amendment, and now is the time to make this a reality."

S.J.Res.6 was introduced in the Senate on Feb. 4.
