Norton to Be Honored at COMTO's "Women Who Move the Nation" Awards Ceremony, Tomorrow

Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Ranking Member of the House Highways and Transit Subcommittee, will be honored by the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) at their 4th annual Women Who Move the Nation awards ceremony tomorrow, March 11, from 8:00 a.m. -- 11:00 a.m. at the J.W. Marriott Hotel (1331 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). COMTO will honor 12 women from different transportation sectors for their contributions to the transportation industry. Norton will receive the award for "legislator."

"I am honored to be included in such an impressive group of women leaders in the important transportation industry, and I thank COMTO for the all the work they do to empower minorities and women who work in the transportation industry," Norton said. "The network and resources that COMTO provides women and minorities who want to work in transportation is important to grow the industry and inspire future industry leaders. I have worked with COMTO to ensure the U.S. Department of Transportation's Disadvantaged Business Program (DBP) stays authorized, and we have already ensured that DBP will be included in the next authorization bill."

COMTO was founded in the District of Columbia in 1971 to provide a forum for senior level minority professionals in the transportation industry.
