Lance Statement On Vote to Fund the Department of Homeland Security

Statement

Date: March 3, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) issued the following statement after House passage of legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security fully:

"I continue to oppose strongly President Obama's illegal amnesty program. The U.S. Senate's continued failure to follow the House of Representatives action to block the President's unilateral actions, however, threatens our national security and hinders our efforts to secure our borders. And that inaction in the U.S. Senate has put the safety and security of the American people at risk.

"At a time of growing terrorist threats both here at home and abroad I voted to fully fund our Nation's homeland security operations.

"We must pursue through the courts and through the Congress, as vigorously as possible, ways to stop these actions and I am encouraged by the recent federal district court injunction stopping the President's unconstitutional executive overreach.

"As I sat and listened to Prime Minister Netanyahu address the Congress and the American People about the threats of a militant Islam with nuclear weapons, I was strengthened in my view that Congress must fund fully national security programs that keep America safe."
