Congressman Gregory W. Meeks released the following statement regarding the fatal shootings of two New York City police officers:

"I offer my deepest condolences to the families of Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, the NYPD officers killed in the line of duty today. This heinous shooting is an instance of senseless violence that sought to destroy the very fabric of our society and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. I join my city, the NYPD community, and those around the nation in mourning the loss of these two heroes in uniform today."
