Reps. Ryan and Kind Re-Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Expand Access to Medicare Data

Statement

Last week, Wisconsin's First District Congressman Paul Ryan, along with fellow Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind, re-introduced bipartisan legislation that, if enacted, would ensure health care providers have the information necessary to improve the quality of care. H.R. 804, titled the Expanding Availability of Medicare Data Act, would accomplish this by expanding access to Medicare data for qualified entities, which are authorized to compile and analyze such data.

Upon introduction of this legislation, Congressman Ryan stated: "Improving the cost and quality of health care for Americans is one of my top priorities in Congress, and this legislation is a step in the right direction to help achieve those goals. I'm proud to work with Congressman Kind on this important issue and hope that our colleagues in Congress will support this common sense, bipartisan bill."

"This bipartisan legislation will help ensure that providers in Wisconsin and around the nation can access the medical data they need to provide quality care to their patients," said Congressman Kind. "Health care providers across Wisconsin have been successful in improving the quality of care that they offer while lowering costs for consumers, and this bill helps them compile and analyze the information they need to deliver the best health care outcomes possible."
