Lujan Grisham Announces Guest for State of the Union

Press Release

Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham is taking an Albuquerque veteran and entrepreneur as her guest to Tuesday's State of the Union.

Andres Lazo, is a Purple Heart recipient who served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger during tours in Iraq, and is actively engaged in Albuquerque's vibrant entrepreneurial community. He leads two community groups focused on entrepreneurial training and his small business, Makerkind, was named one of the winners in the first CNM IGNITE business accelerator.

Lazo recently met with Rep. Lujan Grisham to discuss the potential for creating a business bootcamp program geared toward military veterans. He graduated from a similar program after completing a master's degree at Syracuse University, and is a University of New Mexico Anderson School of Management graduate.

"I think New Mexico has incredible people who are creative, talented, and naturally entrepreneurial," Lazo said. "I am passionate about serving our community and building a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Albuquerque."

"I am thankful for Andres Lazo's service and his sacrifice on behalf of his country," Rep. Lujan Grisham said. "Andres not only represents the best in our community, he continues to advocate for veterans. I have no doubt that Andres and dedicated New Mexicans like him will be the foundation for our economic comeback."
