Date: Jan. 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

The House of Representatives voted on January 14, 2015 to pass 236-191 the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2015. Congressman Huelskamp (KS-01) supported this legislation which includes strong reforms to reign in Obama's executive amnesty actions and the final $300 million in funding for the National Bio-Defense Facility (NBAF).

Congressman Huelskamp released the following statement:

"This long overdue legislation sends a strong signal to the Obama Administration that we will not reward those who have broken the rules and punish those who follow them. Congress holds the constitutional power of the purse and this legislation is the first step to defunding and rolling back the Administrations' lawless amnesty action. This is a matter of national security -- we must protect our country by enforcing the laws on the books and securing our borders.

"Since my time in the Kansas State Senate, I have been strongly supportive of NBAF and efforts to make the project happen at Kansas State University. Beginning with my votes for the project in 2008 in the Kansas Senate and continuing with my support of the project at the federal level, I have consistently backed both construction and research efforts in Manhattan. I am pleased this bill includes the final $300 Million in funding that will bring cutting-edge research to the Big First."
