Hoyer Statement on Terrorist Attack on the Army Public School in Pakistan

Statement

Date: Dec. 16, 2014
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Foreign Affairs

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Taliban terrorists attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan:

"Today's heinous attack against schoolchildren and teachers in Peshawar ought to be condemned universally in the strongest possible terms. Just days after Malala Yousafzai became the first Pakistani to accept the Nobel Peace Prize, the Taliban have once again demonstrated their brutality and their determination to deny young people their basic right to education. There can be no justification ever for the murder and maiming of innocent students. The United States will continue to support the Pakistani government's efforts to root out the Taliban and remove the scourge of terrorism from that country as its people seek a better future for themselves and for their children."
