Rep. Paul Cook Votes to Defund the President's Executive Action on Immigration

Press Release

Date: Jan. 14, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

"Last December, Congress passed a government funding bill that ensured the newly elected House and Senate would have the opportunity to act to block the President's illegal amnesty early this year. I promised my constituents I'd do everything in my power to stop the President's unlawful actions, and today I followed through. My vote today blocked all funding for the President's amnesty.

"It's the Constitutional duty of Congress to act as a check on the President and that's exactly what today's legislation does. Rather than ignoring Congress and the wishes of the American people, the President should work with Congress to secure our borders and find real lawful solutions to the challenges facing America. Real reform must strengthen our border security, reward only those who played by the rules and came here legally, and punish those who break America's laws."
