Bilirakis Responds to the President's State of the Union Address

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

"I had hoped the President's State of the Union address would reflect a desire to work with Republicans in Congress to better the lives of the middle class by growing a healthy economy and putting more money into the pockets of Americans. Instead, President Obama's proposed agenda is based on an old, outdated, government-centric approach that has failed miserably. We should be advancing solutions that increase opportunity for all Americans with more jobs, better wages, and lower health care, energy, and education costs," Bilirakis said.

Bilirakis continued: "I want to empower the middle class by closing tax loopholes and creating a fairer, simpler tax code. The private sector spurs innovation, not the government. President Obama wants to increase taxes to pay for more Washington, DC spending. His proposed tax hikes and spending increases are simply a continuation of the outdated policies that will not create growth."
