Even Leading Obamacare Proponents Now Admit That Passage of the Law Depended On Confusing Voters, Says Ros-Lehtinen

Today, U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen made the following statement concerning recent news reports exposing disparaging and insulting comments made by Dr. Jonathan Gruber, an MIT Economist and chief proponent of Obamacare and the individual mandate at the heart of the law, who worked with the Obama Administration to develop and secure its passage. In those comments, Dr. Gruber openly admits that the law was written in a "tortured way" to hide its true costs, and that its passage depended on the "stupidity of the American voter." Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:

"While it is clear that Obamacare was rammed through Congress without appropriate review or consideration, Dr. Gruber's stunning admission regarding the true nature of the political process Democratic Leadership pursued, including relying on the perceived ignorance of the American people, goes beyond the pale. As if we needed another reason to repeal the legislative monstrosity that is Obamacare, it is now evident that those who developed and enacted the law were only interested in their own political agenda, not the genuine will of the American people. The American people are sick and tired of being told what is good for them by bureaucrats in Washington. It is time for us to find a true solution to improve our country's healthcare system that makes the demands of the American people -- non-discriminatory and cost-effective patient-centered care -- the primary basis of future healthcare reforms."
