Olson Admonishes Dismissal of True the Vote IRS Lawsuit

Press Release

Date: Oct. 24, 2014
Issues: Taxes

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) issued the following statement of opposition to a federal judge ruling that fully dismissed all counts in a lawsuit brought by True the Vote, a Houston non-profit organization that was targeted by Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials when applying for tax-exempt status:

"Our legal system is in place for injured parties to seek legal recourse, especially when the government is the accused party," Rep. Pete Olson said. "It's wrong for a federal judge to summarily dismiss a lawsuit brought as the result of harassment by a government bully. True the Vote was formed to highlight instances of voter fraud. Voter fraud diminishes the sacred right all Americans have to determine who represents them in government. This organization deserves their day in court."

True the Vote has not yet determined if they will challenge this ruling.
