Date: Sept. 24, 2014
Location: Waltonville, IL
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Congressman Bill Enyart (IL-12) announced today that the Village of Waltonville has been awarded $1.9 million to develop a new road, along with water and sewer lines, in support of a proposed ethanol plant in the village.

"This grant is a good indicator of support for the ethanol plant," said Enyart. "The almost two million dollar investment will be utilized to build roads, water lines, and sewer lines in support of the project and in support of the local school and businesses."

"It's going to help in so many ways," said Village President Randy Dees. "It will serve as a new access route for our school busses, and it will benefit the nearby trucking company. It will also create 100 to 120 permanent jobs and another 300 construction jobs. We're just delighted that Congressman Enyart was able to get this project going. It's a win-win for Jefferson County and surrounding counties."

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded the grant. The EDA investment builds infrastructure needed for a new ethanol plant in the Village of Waltonville that will provide economic opportunity for rural communities within a 75-mile radius. The project will create employment and other industrial opportunities in the region.
