Congressman Kingston: "Georgia is Leading America's Response to this Deadly Virus"

Congressman Kingston (GA-1) released the following statement in response to the announcement that 30 soldiers from a Civil Affairs Company at Fort Stewart, GA would be assisting the US efforts to combat the spread of the Ebola virus in West Africa:

"This is another tough assignment for our neighbors, the soldiers of Fort Stewart, who make us so proud with all they do representing America around the world. From research at the CDC in Atlanta to deploying our military assets in Africa, Georgia is leading America's response to this deadly virus."

Kingston is the chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees funding for the Centers for Disease Control, and is also a senior member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. He supported the funding to confront the outbreak of Ebola, and spoke about it on the House floor.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2014 the Secretary of Defense signed an order for thirty soldiers from Fort Stewart to travel to Africa as part of Operation United Assistance.
