Capito Statement on Today's Senate Debate

Statement

Date: Oct. 17, 2014
Location: Charleston, WV

U.S. Senate candidate Shelley Moore Capito issued the following statement regarding today's West Virginia Public Broadcasting debate:

"I am pleased to have participated in the October 7th debate sponsored by the West Virginia Press Association, West Virginia Public Broadcasters and AARP-West Virginia. While I had asked that all the candidates on the ballot be included in that debate, it was unfortunately the decision of the sponsors to exclude the third party candidates. Nonetheless, I believe West Virginia voters heard an energetic and issue-focused debate.

"I sincerely regret that I am not able to participate in the West Virginia Public Broadcasters debate with the other four candidates running for the U. S. Senate, but with just two weeks from the election, I am focused on meeting voters across the state and discussing the issues that concern them. West Virginia voters expect and deserve this type of personal contact and I find it provides me with a platform to explain my issue priorities I would take to the Senate if elected.

"I plan to spend the next two and half weeks traveling West Virginia talking about how important it is to elect a Senator ready to fight for West Virginia. Washington is picking winners and losers with West Virginia stuck on the losing end. My West Virginia Works Plan will put our state on a path toward more jobs and a stronger economy. West Virginians deserve a Senator who is going to fight for West Virginia every day. And, I'm ready for that fight."
