Rep. Joe Garcia Receives Perfect Scorecard From Human Rights Campaign

Rep. Joe Garcia is pleased to announce that the Human Rights Campaign released its scorecard assigning him a 100% favorability score based on his support for LGBT rights and causes. The HRC scorecard is assigned to all members of the 113th Congress.

"I am extremely proud of receiving a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign. It is important to me that we stand up for equal rights and demonstrate a commitment to LGBT equality and inclusion. This exciting achievement is more evidence of the work we do to continue to put South Florida first. Be it fighting for equal pay, working across the aisle to lower student loan interest rates and giving LGBT Americans equal protection under the law, I will always fight for the interests of South Floridians," said Rep. Garcia.

According to the HRC scorecard, Rep. Garcia has supported every bill that ensures equal rights for LGBT Americans, including the Student Non-Discrimination Act, the Respect For Marriage Act to repeal DOMA and the amendment to the Violence Against Women Act which included provisions that expands resources and services to victims of domestic violence, regardless of sexual orientation. The HRC scorecard also praised Rep. Garcia's support for marriage equality.
