Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-12) and Congressman Jerry Nadler (NY-10) today announced that more than $1.5 billion in Sandy Recovery grants have been awarded to the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York City Department of Transportation and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

"Superstorm Sandy revealed major vulnerabilities in our infrastructure," said Maloney. "That's why I fought not just for funding for recovery after Sandy, but also for resources to mitigate any damage caused by future natural disasters. The New Yorkers who experienced the aftermath of Sandy know we need to be better prepared for the next big event. The over $1.5 billion in additional funds we are announcing today will go a long way toward making sure we are ready."

"As our communities continue to recover and rebuild from the damage of Superstorm Sandy, these $1 billion in grants for the New York City Department of Transportation and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will help fix our transportation infrastructure and prepare for the next natural disaster," said Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10). "I will continue to fight make sure that we get the federal funds we need and today's announcement is another step in the right direction toward our full recovery."
