U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced $1,190,558 in federal funding to go toward improvements at Trenton-Mercer Airport, South Jersey Regional Airport and Lincoln Park Airport. The funding is awarded through the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.

"Investing in our airports keeps travel safe and reliable, creates jobs and boosts our economic competitiveness," said Sen. Menendez. "As the winter approaches, it is vital we make sure our airports are well-equipped to keep everyone safe. Since our state's economy thrives on a modern, efficient transportation system, we need to continually improve our aging infrastructure."

"The safety of our airports is a top priority," said Sen. Booker. "Making sure all of our state's airports are up and running is key to ensuring the safety of local residents and visitors, and growing the regional economy. I am committed to continue to work with the Department of Transportation to address the needs of airports across our state and ensure that federal funding is made available to support these needs."

The grants include:

$781,074 to Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing to conduct an airport master plan study
$ 118,800 to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for an environmental assessment at South Jersey Regional Airport that will evaluate any potential environmental impacts related to a proposed runway obstruction removal project.
$ 290,684 to Lincoln Park Inc. for the acquisition of new snow removal equipment at Lincoln Park Airport and to remove runway obstructions.
