Rep. Schneider Tours Career Resource Center, Calls for Unemployment Insurance Extension

Press Release

U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) met with the Career Resource Center employees and constituents working with the Career Resource Center to find employment. During the visit, he called for an immediate extension of unemployment insurance.

"The Career Resource Center is an incredible resource for people in our communities looking for work, offering a breadth of services including crafting resumes and interview coaching," Schneider said. "These programs help people with their job search, but still many of our families, friends and neighbors continue to depend on unemployment insurance to help bridge the gap in difficult times. That's why I'll continue highlighting the need to urgently extend unemployment insurance--it isn't just smart policy, it's the right thing to do."

After long-term unemployment insurance lapsed for millions of Americans in December, Rep. Schneider introduced a measure to force a vote on unemployment insurance. He continues his call for an immediate extension of unemployment insurance and is a cosponsor of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Extension Act. Rep. Schneider has also hosted four Hiring Events, including in Waukegan, Zion, Wheeling and Palatine.

The Career Resource Center is a nonprofit based in Lake Forest that works with local residents to help them find employment. Since opening 24 years ago, the Career Resource Center has helped more than 12,000 people
