U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker today issued a statement on Labor Day.

"Labor Day is an important opportunity for us to honor American workers, who form the backbone of our economy. The private sector has added 9.9 million jobs over the past 53 months -- the longest stretch of job growth on record. President Obama and I, along with the entire Commerce Department, are committed to doing everything we can to create jobs, strengthen our economic recovery, and ensure America remains globally competitive in the 21st century. Our "Open for Business Agenda' supports the President's efforts to expand exports to new markets; increase investment in the United States; help people acquire the skills needed for high-quality, good-paying jobs; unleash more government data and environmental intelligence; and bolster innovation and manufacturing, which support millions of American jobs."
