Today, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) received the 2014 Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The prestigious award, given annually to select Members of Congress, recognizes Congressman Pittenger's work to support pro-economic growth, pro-jobs legislation.

"America emerged as the greatest economic power in the world because of entrepreneurs who risked their capital and sweat equity to build their businesses, large and small," said Congressman Pittenger. "American entrepreneurs created an unprecedented workforce and tremendous economic development, and I am honored to support their efforts in Congress. They, not Washington bureaucrats, are the key to a strong and prosperous economic recovery for ordinary American families."

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recognized Congressman Pittenger for supporting twelve pieces of critical pro-growth legislation, including the Authority for Mandate Delay Act (H.R. 2667), which authorized a one-year delay for Obamacare's costly employer mandate, the Northern Route Approval Act (H.R. 3), which speeds approval of the Keystone Pipeline and related jobs, and No Budget, No Pay (H.R. 325), which forced Senate Democrats to finally produce a budget and restore fiscal accountability in Washington.

"2013 was challenging, but Congressman Pittenger worked to pass legislation and enact policies that will keep our country moving forward economically," U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue said in a statement from Washington. "The Spirit of Enterprise Award recognizes legislators like Congressman Pittenger who have demonstrated their commitment to supporting pro-growth policies in the 113th Congress."

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce presented Congressman Pittenger with the Spirit of Enterprise Award during a Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Board of Advisors meeting at the CPCC Harris Conference Center.
