Today as the 1965 Voting Rights Act reaches its 49 Anniversary, Elisabeth Jensen issued the following statement:

"Today is an important moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of the Voting Rights Act which was a hard fought victory for American values and social justice. Today is also a reminder that we should not and cannot accept the dysfunctional politics of Washington and Congress as our new normal. The best thing that Kentucky residents can do to celebrate this historic milestone is to exercise their right to vote in November and participate in our democracy."
