Issue Position: Support Small Business

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

My parents have owned a picture framing business and art gallery in Downtown Bozeman for nearly 30 years. My brother owns a Bozeman-area stone masonry company that he and his partner built from the ground up; and my brother-in-law sells real estate in the Gallatin Valley. Between all their businesses, they employ dozens of people in the Gallatin Valley, contribute to our tax base, and prove that Bozeman is a great place to live and do business. If you send me to Helena, I will fight for small businesses across the state by promoting a clean, fair, and competitive tax code.

FAMILY BUSINESS - I grew up working for my parents, Jim & Lynda Brown, at the family business, Old Main Gallery & Framing. Old Main Gallery has been a staple in Downtown Bozeman since 1964, and my family has owned it since the mid 1980's. Growing up in the family business taught me about the power of community and the local economy; the value of genuine customer service; the benefits of long hours and hard work; to strive for quality in everything I do; and to always treat others with respect, no matter the situation.
