Issues: Women Abortion

Conservative legislators act as if the only women's issues is restricting access to abortion. In reality, the laws they have put into place hurt women, children, and families in much broader ways. The closing of clinics has prevented women from getting much-needed mammograms and ovarian cancer screenings. Access to birth control has become difficult or impossible. Women are not getting the pre and post natal care they need. Ohio ranks 39th in infant mortality.**** The bulk of these infant deaths result from inadequate pre and post natal care.

Charlene Schneider is not an advocate of abortion, per se. She is an advocate of giving women and children the best chance at a bright future by addressing all of women's health issues. This means providing realistic sex education classes, and easy access to birth control and family planning. Cancer screenings and adequate pre and post natal care not only save lives but money as we catch problems early on. Restricting access to abortion will not significantly reduce the number of abortions in Ohio. What it will do is place women at greater risk. We should treat women with dignity and respect and allow them to make their own health decisions, with input from their physician and without the intrusion of government.
