Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks), a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on Eid al-Fitr:

"I extend my warm wishes to the Muslim-American community on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The religious holiday marks the end of Ramadan and a month of fasting. Eid al-Fitr is an important holiday celebrated by the Islamic community worldwide. Many Muslims spend the day with family and friends, often exchanging gifts. In particular, I extend my wishes to the Muslim-American constituents in the San Fernando Valley on this festive occasion."
