Issue Position

Government at all levels provides critical functions that cost money. To pay for government and services, we must tax individuals and businesses. As an elected representative of those same individuals and businesses, it is my responsibility to work to ensure that government is efficient and spending money in a responsible manner. This is a daunting task and requires efforts to be made on a continual basis. My record in the Legislature as a member of the Finance and Claims Committee in each session shows this commitment. My appropriations subcommittee was responsible for the largest reduction in non-efficient and unnecessary expenses of all subcommittees in each of my previous legislative sessions. I was also selected as a member of the prestigious Select Committee on Efficiencies in Government Interim Committee whose charge was to find and legislate efficiency into state government and pass along the savings to the taxpayer. I will continue to work to reduce taxes through the elimination of inefficient and irresponsible government spending.
