Issue Position: Repeal "Gun Free" School Zone Laws

Issue Position

If elected, I will sponsor legislation to eliminate all restrictions on the Second Amendment. In particular, I will sponsor legislation to repeal the tragically failed "gun-free" school zone laws, so that schools can defend themselves from violence. This will allow individuals, communities, and schools to protect themselves.

Imagine how different Newtown would have been had there not been any "gun-free" school zone laws. First, the shooter would have been less likely to pick a school as a target. Currently, because they are government-guaranteed to be defenseless, schools are an easy target. If a violent sociopath knows that a school is actually able to defend itself, he will be less inclined to target schools in the first place.

Even if a shooter goes after a school, that shooting spree will be cut short by armed security guards, administrators, or even teachers. Large scale massacres would be impossible if school staff were able to shoot back.

I want American schools and communities to be safe havens, not easy targets. Thus, if elected, I will sponsor legislation to repeal "gun-free" school zone laws, as well as all other restrictions on our natural right to defend ourselves.
