Issue Position: Health Care

We are only beginning to understand the impacts of MNsure - the Minnesota version of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) - but the main impact has been on our wallets. MNsure/Obamacare has resulted in higher health care costs for thousands upon thousands of Minnesotans - and rates are likely to increase next year. Further, this past legislative session Minnesota Democrats voted against even discussing allowing the rates to be released before the election. Why would they do this? Because they know the rates and going up and they do not want the public to see the true cost of MNsure/Obamacare before casting their vote.

We need to clean up this mess. Tough decisions need to be made - but they should be made until the public is fully informed. We need a system that reduces costs, increases the quality of care and ensures that those who truly cannot afford health care have access to it. We can set an example for the rest of the nation here in Minnesota - but we need new leadership in St. Paul to do so.
