Issue Position

I believes that access to quality, affordable health care is a human right. I am a proponent of universal health care with an increased emphasis on prevention, and I believe that a healthy economy begins with the health of individuals and families. While serving as a health volunteer in the Peace Corps, I witnessed firsthand how the lack of adequate health care can devastate families and communities. Beyond access to health care, I am working to promote better health as part of our culture. We need to increase sports and activities in our schools and communities; add more fields, paths and trails in and around our neighborhoods; and work to provide people with healthier food choices.
