In Case You Missed It: Chris Day Announces Business Initiative

Statement

Date: June 30, 2014

Throughout this campaign, one of my key points has been a focus on bringing more economic activity to this district, and thus help provide more and better jobs and lead to lower taxes.

Yesterday in my second live Q and A "Convo with Chris", I announced an initiative that I will begin once elected to attract small and midsize financial sector firms to our district.

Essentially, my office will formally organize events at which we pitch partners and mid-level management looking to start their own firms in such hubs as Manhattan and Greenwich, Connecticut on the relative advantages of our 17th District over such locations.

Our district, compared to such locations, has lower rent costs, similar geographic advantages, an educated workforce, easy access to the City, great schools, and a suburban atmosphere. Do they like a more urban environment with easy access to Manhattan? I'll explain why White Plains makes sense for their firm. A picturesque smaller town with an easy commute? I'll show them why Piermont is better than Connecticut.

With zero environmental impact and substantial funds, these 5 to 40 person firms can drive money into both our economy and the tax base of our local governments, occupy vacant commercial space, and reignite our local housing market.

Initiatives like this will be a hallmark of my time in office. There will be no more sitting around and waiting -- when there is a problem here, your representative will come up with unique and aggressive solutions to fix it, and spend the time and energy needed to execute. There's no reason this couldn't be getting done already -- it apparently just takes a fresh perspective to make it happen

If you like the idea of having a representative who proactively tackles our problems, please visit this link to volunteer your time or click here to contribute financially -- and there is yet another deadline today, so if you can make that contribution before midnight it would be much appreciated.
