Broun Votes to Decrease Energy Costs and Keep Money in Georgians' Pockets

U.S. Representative Paul Broun, M.D. (GA-10) today released the following statement after voting in support of legislation this week aimed at lowering gas prices, strengthening America's energy independence, and creating jobs. Broun supported H.R. 3301, the North American Energy Infrastructure Act, H.R. 6, the Domestic Prosperity and Global Freedom Act, and H.R. 4899, the Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America that Works Act. All three bills passed in the U.S. House of Representatives and await consideration by the U.S. Senate.

Said Congressman Paul Broun, "As the summer commences, Americans across the country are making vacation plans and looking for ways to stay cool in the summer heat. Unfortunately, far too many Americans today are grappling with the high costs of gasoline and energy that make it all the more difficult to beat the heat. The national average price of gas today sits at $3.67 a gallon compared to $2.35 a gallon just five years ago. These high costs simply mean less money in Georgians' pockets to use towards enjoying their summer. This week, my Republican colleagues and I took a stand against this Administration's none-of-the-above energy policies and voted on three common-sense energy bills that would tackle rising gas prices, spur job creation, and expand domestic energy production. I am hopeful that Senate Democrats will take these bills up immediately, so that we can take a step towards improving the quality of life for all Americans."
