Education must be a priority in Alaska!

This legislative majority, with the help of Shelley Hughes, has locked in three more years of education cuts. Teachers are being cut from our schools' classrooms while politicians are building themselves a fancy new office building in Anchorage complete with glass elevators, heated parking ramps and maple walls. When finished, the state won't even own this building, but it will cost taxpayers five times more than the old building.

This legislature clearly has the wrong priorities. We need to stop wasteful spending, balance the budget, and reverse education cuts.

We must ensure that the students of today are fully prepared for the future and that our great schools are properly funded. The legislature must work with local leaders to ensure that districts are innovating appropriately and have the resources they need to provide an excellent education for all of Alaska's children.

As your representative, I will ensure that our schools have the tools they need to prepare students for the future -- Alaska's economy and future depend on it.
