Issue Position: Creating New, Sustainable Industries in Michigan

Issue Position

The recent agenda in Lansing has proved extremely polarizing and detrimental to our economic success. If elected to the Senate, I will work with the business and labor communities to draft legislation that benefits workers and small business owners alike. Michigan's auto and manufacturing industries continue to drive our economy, and I still stand up for the men and women who make that work possible. I will also support legislation that will continue to support growing economic sectors such as green energy, science, technology and film production fields.

I have also heard from many small business owners and entrepreneurs who have been frustrated by the government bureaucracy and red tape that have impeded their progress. When it comes to business growth, government should be tearing down barriers, not putting up hurdles, and I will commit myself to making sure government gets out of businesses' way. We should be working to make it easier for companies to invest, grow and create jobs here, and I will make sure our state government works to support these entrepreneurs.

Businesses and workers alike rely on an educated workforce, quality infrastructure and inclusive public policies in deciding where to locate, and I will strive to improve these to make Michigan and Oakland County a quality place to work and live.
