Common Core

Best practice research states that Common Core Georgia Performance Standards build on the previous Georgia Performance Standards and improve them to ensure that all Georgia children will graduate from high school ready for college and/or career. Alisha believes that staying-the-course with the higher standards is the right thing to do for Georgia and, most importantly, for our students and parents.

Parent Choice

Alisha has a strong record of supporting parent choice within the public education system. She is a supporter of virtual education, public charters, and is the author of the state's law that allows parents to choose a public school within the school district that best meets the needs of their child. Alisha believes that parental choice is one way to help level the playing field, especially for low-income parents who may not otherwise have access to educational options for their children. Alisha also believe that parental choice allows for innovation within the school system. What we know is that a one-size-fits-all approach to education simply does not work. Morgan believes that all options should be on the table for parents and students, enabling them to choose the approach to education that best meets their learning styles and individual needs.
