Issue Position

I will protect a woman's reproductive rights and her right to choose. I will fight for this fundamental right of a woman.

I will protect the rights and benefits of seniors.

I will support bills that promote equality for everyone and provides strong sanctions and/or penalties for those people, businesses or organizations that seek to discriminate. For example, racial profiling, racial disparity in the Criminal Justice System, harassment of immigrant workers seeking "day work" must end now. It is time to stop talking about ending these things. It is time to pass clear laws that will seek to eradicate these discriminatory and archaic ways of doing things.

I will support Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender rights. There has been a victory in this area with the passage of the Marriage Equality Act. That being said, there is more to be done. For example, I will make sure marriage equality is properly implemented so that these married couples get all of the benefits of marriage at the local, state, and federal level. In addition, there was the failure of the legislature to pass a law banning discrimination in employment, housing, and other sectors for the transgender community. This is simply wrong. I will fight for legislation to expand transgender protections.

In addition to the above there are other issues that need and require prompt and immediate attention: health care, transportation and the environment.

I support universal health care. I support a common sense transportation system that expands with population but only when carefully studied before being implemented. Finally, I enjoy the many parks, open spaces and the various wildlife that inhabits these areas. We need to protect these areas, we need to continue and enhance our recycle efforts and, we need to promote clean, safe and renewable energy.
