Shea-Porter Travels to Normandy for 70th Anniversary of D-Day

Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, will travel to Normandy, France to mark the 70th Anniversary of the Allied Invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Shea-Porter will participate in a bipartisan and bicameral Congressional Delegation (CODEL), which includes Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Buck McKeon (R-CA), to recognize the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the American and Allied forces who helped liberate Europe during WWII.

Shea-Porter will attend ceremonies at Omaha Beach, Sword Beach, and the Normandy American Cemetery.

On June 6, U.S. President Barack Obama and French President François Hollande will join the delegation for ceremonies in Normandy involving paratroopers, veterans, and children.
