Lance Responds to FCC Vote on Proposed Net Neutrality Rules

Statement

Date: May 15, 2014
Location: Westfield, NJ

House Communications and Technology Subcommittee member Leonard Lance (NJ-07) expressed disappointment following today's Federal Communications Commission's vote on its proposed "open Internet" rules.

"The FCC's rules proposal to regulate the Internet will hurt consumers and discourage new investment and innovation in broadband. It should be Congress, not an unelected federal commission, that is tasked in modernizing our Nation's telecommunications laws As a member of the House Communications and Technology Subcommittee I look forward to a vigorous discussion with Chairman Wheeler next week on what I consider to be a gross overstep in authority on the issue of network neutrality."

Background:

FCC Chairman Wheeler will appear before the Communications and Technology Subcommittee on Tuesday, May 20. More information can be found at http://energycommerce.house.gov/hearing/oversight-federal-communications-commission-0.
