Landrieu Opposes Sharon Bowen for CFTC Post

Statement

Date: May 28, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., released the following statement on her opposition to the nomination of Sharon Bowen to a seat on the Commodities Futures Trading Commission:

"I cannot support the nomination of Sharon Bowen to serve on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. More than 1,800 Louisiana families were thrown into financial upheaval by the crimes of Robert Allen Stanford. Unfortunately, under Ms. Bowen's leadership, the Securities Investor Protection Corporation decided not to compensate those families for the $500 million stolen from them. These families deserve better, and I will continue to stand by them in their fight for justice."
