Issues: Veterans

Today, Dr. Dan Benishek (MI-01) released the following statement on President Obama's press conference about the recent scandal surround the Department of Veterans' Affairs:

"President Obama's words are too little, too late. His administration continues to fail to provide the leadership needed to ensure accountability at the VA and there continues to be a lack of action that will provide certainty to our veterans that they are going to receive the care and benefits that they have earned.

"As a former VA physician and subcommittee chair in the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, I know the time for excuses and explanations are over. I will continue to fight for the changes that must be made immediately to provide our nation's heroes with the respect and dignity that we owe them."

Dr. Benishek has previously called for new leadership and changes at the Department of Veterans' Affairs. He is the only member of the Michigan delegation serving on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
