Issue Position: Energy and Environment

For hundreds of years, our home in southeastern Pennsylvania has been known for its idyllic pastures and farmland. Our district's natural resources have allowed us to become a leader in farming and dairy production. In Congress, one of Raj's greatest priorities will be to protect our ability to farm, while keeping energy prices down.

The proposed liquid natural gas pipeline that would travel through Lancaster County is alarming to many local farmers, residents, and businesses. This pipeline could disrupt our economy and damage our environment while providing no tangible benefit to Lancaster, Berks, and Chester counties. Raj will fight to keep this pipeline out of our backyards, and demand that all community members have a chance to be heard on this important issue.

Renewable energy and American energy independence are becoming increasingly important. Raj's support for common sense solutions means he will support newer and more efficient sources of energy, including solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. These sources of energy will not only help keep costs down and protect our natural resources, but will also help reduce American dependence on foreign sources of fuels.

As a strong voice for innovation in Congress, Raj will work to support businesses working to develop cheaper, more efficient ways of producing renewable energy, while supporting tax credits for the individuals and businesses who increasingly choose to rely on renewable sources of energy.
