City of Belfast Receives $1.9 Million Economic Development Award

The City of Belfast has received a $1.9 million economic development grant that will allow for the improvement of Front Street and the continued development of the Front Street Shipyard. The grant will fund the construction of utility and road improvements on Front Street, and in the process is expected to create 110 new jobs. Congressman Mike Michaud issued the following statement in response:

"This is terrific news for the City of Belfast, and a well-deserved victory for an area where we've been seeing positive growth. These funds will accelerate that economic growth and create new jobs in the process. Perhaps most importantly, the funds will allow for the Front Street area to truly reach its full potential, building on the wonderful work already underway. Congratulations to all of the city officials who worked so hard to make this grant a reality."
